St. Stanislaus Kostka

🕯 Feast Day: November 13
St. Stanislaus Kostka supports students, young people discerning their path, and anyone facing difficult family situations. A Retablo of St. Stanislaus would be a deeply meaningful gift for a student preparing for exams, a young person struggling to find their vocation, or someone grappling with family expectations. It serves as a beautiful reminder of perseverance, purity, and the courage to follow God's call, offering comfort and inspiration to trust in one's inner journey.

Early Life & Calling: Born in 1550 into a noble Polish family, Stanislaus was destined for a secular career in politics or the military, attending a Jesuit college in Vienna with his brother. Despite his family's ambitions and opposition, he felt a profound and unwavering call to religious life, particularly to join the Society of Jesus.

Acts of Devotion: Faced with his family's strong disapproval and even threats, Stanislaus secretly left Vienna and walked hundreds of miles, first to Dillingen, Germany, and then on to Rome, to gain admission to the Jesuit order. During his novitiate, he was renowned for his profound humility, strict asceticism, and deep mystical experiences, including receiving Holy Communion from angels.

Historical Impact: St. Stanislaus Kostka is venerated as a powerful example of youthful holiness, perseverance in vocation, and purity of heart. His unwavering dedication to God's call, even in the face of significant familial and personal obstacles, continues to inspire young people and those discerning a religious life today, marking him as a patron for students and novices worldwide.

A House of Saints Prayer: Mi querido St. Stanislaus, you showed us how to follow the light even when the path was dark and filled with family worries. Bless our young ones, those searching for their true calling, to walk with courage and pure heart, just as you journeyed to your sacred home. May your spirit guide us to the path the Lord has laid out, amen.
