St. Catherine supports students, scholars, lawyers, and those facing difficult decisions or persecution for their beliefs. A Retablo of Santa Catalina makes a deeply thoughtful gift for a graduate, a new lawyer, or anyone striving for intellectual growth and moral courage in their life's journey. It serves as a beautiful reminder of the power of wisdom and unwavering faith, offering comfort and inspiration to stand firm in one's convictions. This sacred art piece can be a beacon of strength for anyone seeking truth and intellectual fortitude.

Early Life & Calling: Born into a noble family in Alexandria, Egypt, Catherine was renowned for her beauty, intelligence, and vast education, mastering philosophy, rhetoric, and classical literature. At only eighteen years old, she boldly confronted the pagan Emperor Maxentius, condemning his persecution of Christians and challenging the worship of idols, a defiant act that marked the beginning of her divine calling.

Acts of Devotion: Maxentius summoned fifty pagan philosophers to debate Catherine, but she eloquently refuted their arguments, converting many to Christianity who were then martyred. Enraged, the emperor ordered her torture on a spiked breaking wheel, which miraculously shattered upon her touch. Ultimately, she faced beheading by sword, remaining steadfast in her faith to her final breath.

Historical Impact: Though historical details are debated, St. Catherine remains a powerful emblem of intellectual courage, unwavering faith, and the strength to stand for truth against oppression. Her story inspires students, scholars, and all who seek wisdom and stand firm in their convictions, making her a beacon for integrity and spiritual fortitude.

A House of Saints Prayer: Oh, Santa Catalina, bright star of wisdom, we ask for your clear sight. Guide our minds through dusty roads of learning, help us speak truth with gentle strength. For the students, for the thinkers, for all who seek knowledge under this vast sky, grant courage, like the desert bloom, that we may stand tall in faith. Amen.
