Later, she was appointed abbess of the double monastery at Heidenheim, where she diligently governed both monks and nuns with wisdom and spiritual guidance. After her death, her tomb in Eichstätt became known for miraculously exuding a holy oil, called "Walburga's oil," which has been associated with numerous healings and is collected annually to this day.
